Bio
Francesca Burgio was born in Italy in 1985.
She received her Master Degree in Neuropsychology at the University of Padova (Italy) in 2011.
She investigated deterioration of different cognitive abilities in patients with neurodegenerative brain diseases using experimental neuropsychological assessment, structural neuroimaging techniques as well as computerized assessments at Department of Neuroscience, University of Padova, where she was appointed Research Assistant.
She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Neuroscience at Department of Neuroscience in 2017, under the supervision of Prof. Carlo Semenza.
Her doctoral project led to the development of a tool to assess the impact of acalculia upon an individual’s everyday life, in particular, a specific aspect of daily living activities requiring numbers, dealing with finances, was deepened.
She received the title of psychotherapist and specialist in neuropsychology at the University of Trieste, Italy in 2019.
She has been the recipient of the research grant funded by Ministery of Health in 2018.
Research Interests
Francesca is primarily interested in investigation of the interplay between cognitive-behavioral deficits and neuronal substrates associated with different neurological conditions (Mild Cognitive Impairment, Parkinson’s disease and Stroke patients) and in development of neurorehabilitation programs in order to improve the autonomy and quality of life of patients.
