Bio

Valentina Pegoraro was born in Italy in 1986.

She is a biotechnologist with experience in biomolecular techniques and Translational Research.

She obtained her Master Degree in Biotechnology at the University of Padua in 2010.

She started her research in San Camillo (IRCCS) in 2012, she moved to the field of Neurobiology.

She received her Ph.D in “Medical, Clinical and Experimental Sciences, Neurosciences address” at the University of Padua in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Angelini.

Her doctoral thesis regarded the study of microRNAs and molecular proteins as biomarkers for clinical subtypes of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

She was involved as Telethon and San Camillo postdoctoral Researcher in Multicenter projects.

She was working for more than 7 years in Biobank BBMRNR of San Camillo that is part of European node BBMRI-ERIC.

She is responsible for Biobank clinical risk.

Research Interests

Valentina is primarily interested in investigating neurobiological pathways of rare and neuromuscular diseases and in discovering new biomarkers (e.g. specific miRNAs) in serum, cells and muscle biopsies.

Her translational research focuses on a multidisciplinary patients approach: genetic basis of the diseases and analysis of biomarkers will be correlated with natural history, outcome measures and muscle MRI imaging to follow the disease progression and the effect of physical rehabilitation.
